Toulouse based Springbok wing Cheslin Kolbe snapped up the European Champions Cup try of the season, beating out four other contenders. The prestigious award was voted on by fans and ultimately selected by two-time European Cup winner Alan Quinian.
Kolbe's award winning try was scored back in December in Toulouse's 29 -22 away win over Irish based Ulster. The award adds to the trophy he claimed in the final over the weekend as his side toppled La Rochelle in the Cup Final. For Munster flanker Alan Quinian on announcing the winner was full of praise for the effort.
"It had outstanding skill, pace and individual brilliance from Cheslin Kolbe to score."
Other nominees including team mate Antoine du Pont, Raka Alivereit, Greg Alldrit and Juan Cruz Mallia.
Fans across the globe have been delighted by Kolbe's try scoring prowess since he burst onto the scene for the Springboks in 2018 under Rassie Erasmus. His try in the Rugby World Cup final when he left Owen Farrell grasping at straws. Had TJ Perenara not scored such a stunner against Namibia, Kolbe may have taken try of the World Cup too.
The fleet footed speedster is in great form at the moment which pleased South African management in their media briefing yesterday as they noted they had a number of players returning from Europe in the coming weeks who had all been performing well, the likes of Faf De Klerk, Cobus Reinach and Damian De Allende to name a few.
